Education: Union Township’s Revolutionary Road

Visit two of Union Township’s historic sites in one day!

Start your day at Liberty Hall Museum & Arboretum where students will explore the home of the first elected Governor of New Jersey, William Livingston, the legend of Hannah Caldwell, the causes of the American Revolution and the unsung heroes of the war, before using a quill pen to sign a loyalty oath to support the patriot cause, remain loyal to King George III, or stay out of the conflict with the Quakers. Then eat lunch in Liberty Hall’s historic Carriage House before boarding the bus and driving 15 minutes down to road to the Caldwell Parsonage at the Union Township Historical Society where students will discover some of Union’s most famous Patriots including Hannah and James Caldwell, learn the history of Union Township, and play colonial games!
